valuable lesson learned

i just thought id pass on a tid bit i got from a hunt last night.

2 dogs on a tree...... im in for 2nd and 1st. other 2 dogs shut out.

we go in to score. looked for the coon for the full 10 .. 2 cast members said circle and the 2 shut out said minus....the judge was one of the minus votes.
he said the judge breaks all ties and minused me.
i found out later it takes a MAJORITY to plus and a MAJORITY to minus. 2 and 2 aint a majority...should have been circled.

just thought i might try to pass along the info i learned 200 points later...lol.
i got the cast win but i would have finished in 2nd over all instead of 4th.

minus

well the way i read it if the judge said minus that was the call and it took a majority to over rule.. so if that's so he's still minus

Can anyone find the link to the old post so we can see how the explanation was written?

Anytime you have a hunting judge and there are 2 votes to minus and 2 votes to circle when scoring a tree, the tree gets circled. Same goes if there are 2 votes to plus and 2 votes to circle. There's not even room for debate on this.

A hunting judges vote isn't worth any more than any other cast members vote when scoring a tree. If the hunting judge thinks otherwise, just ask him to put a question mark next to it and go on. If the MOH sides with the hunting judge, get out your wallet and file an appeal to UKC. You'll win.

it takes a majority to score a tree. there are 3 instances where the hunting judges vote is equal to the rest of the cast, scoring a tree is one of them.

the 2 shut out

if the 2 that were shut out on tree, were there when the judge arrived they are awarded the next available tree positions and minused as well.......

it was also nice to meet you clay....
i was getting bored waitin on the rest of the casts to come in.

i was under the same impression that a judge breaks the tie and i was WRONG....the moh said he would overturn the minus in a sec but i didnt have a ? on the card..

the rule CLEARLY states a MAJORITY to plus or minus.
basic math means more than half and 2-2 isnt a majority.

its CIRCLED and it wont happen to me again.

thanks again clay and if we ever hunt together im gonna be pickin your brain just so know you ahead of time....lol

Read the rules everyone..... it takes a majority to plus, It takes a majority to minus.

In the advisor it states if you dont have a majority then you circle.

The rule book clearly states majority to plus or minus.

*3. POINTS WILL BE PLUS:

(a) When dogs strike and tree and coon is seen: (1) by a non-hunting Judge, or (2)BY A MAJORITY OF THE CAST WHEN A HUNTING JUDGE IS USED (3) Only one tree is counted even if more than one coon is up the tree.

*4. POINTS WILL BE MINUS:

(b) When dogs tree and (1) a non-hunting Judge or (2) A MAJORITY OF THE CAST WHEN A HUNTING JUDGE IS USED, CAN PLAINLY SEE NO COON IS THERE.

So if you dont have a majority then it will be circled. If you cant plus and you cant minus then you circle.
