can a person that can not see very well or blind person have a back up handler shine tree's for them??

If they will let me I'll bring {2} handlers, one for each of my eyes !!! Good question, but I don't have an answer...

yes they can u will need a letter from ukc saying a backup handler will be used to handle dog at tree and search for coon.

thats good to know and a real good question asked just turned 70 and have gone blind in one eye and the other is starting to go so far they have stopped the progression of my good eye i can keep up in every way but have a fear of having to quit. when it's time for me to leave this world i would rather go while hunting

It would be fair sportsmanship I would think long as the dog treed. Why try to sucker some poor guy if the coon is really up there and no ones says any thing to advantage them selves. That said maybe honest help would be what is needed in a situation where sight is a problem. To much screwing going on as it is just for a cast win. An honest guy with a good hound could get circled all night because of his vision. Im sre if he is treed alone, no body sees the coon ha ha ha When treed with company every one sees it ya there it is ha ha ha

The only time i have heard of back up handlers would be at major event, but idk.

A few years back there was a young hunter in South Carolina who was blind. He had a letter from UKC stating that his spectator could shine the tree for him. He made all the calls, went to the trees, and handled his dog. bvbv
