new to coon hunting need help

iam new to coon hunting but not new to dogs iam a hog hunter
anyways i went to a reputable breeder and bought two pups had them flown in and her i am they are 9 months old now love coons
but they dont open up on hot track.i have been turning coons loose letting them get away and then turning the pups loose.
most of the time they will track them to the tree.one of them does pretty good on the tree but the other one really dont open on tree she tries to climb the tree and is pretty good at it but she wont open up unless she is right in its face.i always thought coon dogs should be open on hot track.right or wrong ? and would think they would open up on the tree once they found it ? any help would be appreciated.

they are still young.... i would hunt them with a older broke dog!! give them time. and put some fur in thier mouth to get them excited... JMO. i had a 1 yr old pup that wouldnt say much on a turned loose coon but opened good at night with other dogs?

I'd say 99% of older broke dogs won't open on a caged coon for whatever the reason.

Sounds to me like they are just doing what most pups do. You might want to try and find another coonhunter in your area and hunt some with him. If you do find someone tell them you'll only bring one of your pups at a time as most people don't want to be bothered with chasing down someone elses dogs running trash.(not saying yours do)
