puppy ?

I know when they need to be wormed and all that. What else needs to be given to pups and at what age to you give it. Like vaccines, 7 way shots, etc..

Vaccines

I personally like to give my pups theirs starting at 5 weeks. I know they have passive amunity from their mother, but I lost 2 pups after giving them 3 shots one time. I also know some think I'm just wasting a shot, but I haven't lost a pup in years by starting at 5 weeks & every 2 weeks after that until their 16 weeks if I'm going to keep them& never let a pup go until they've had three shots & tell new owner how I do it& when the next one is due. We also start worming at 3-4 weeks old & every 2 weeks after that. I worm one week & vaccinate the next. A lot of poeple can't believe how my pups grow. I also start giving milk replacer & start them drinking it at 2 weeks & soak feed in it & start feeding them at 3 weeks twice a day& this can be a job getting up & doing this before going to work at 7:00am. Bred females get it on their feed daily also& I double the amount mothers are normally fed & feed mothers this twice a day so their actually getting 4 times the feed they normally get.

I just purchased 2 pups within the last month and I dont really know anything about there shot records. They are wormed out, but I dont really know what shots I need to give them. Will hurt to give them the shot if they have already had everything they need?

Vaccination Schedule

The Vaccination/Deworming Schedule that I use is as follows (it is the same one that the vet I used to work for used):

4 Weeks - Deworm With Nemex At A Dosage Of 1cc per 2 pounds of body weight and give 1 extra cc

6 Weeks - Da2PPV (5-way) and Deworm with Nemex

8 Weeks - Deworm With Nemex

9 Weeks - Da2PPV

10 Weeks - Deworm With Nemex

12 Weeks - Da2PLPV (7-way) and Deworm With Nemex

15 Weeks - Da2PLPV, Bordetella Vaccine, Rabies Vaccine

The Bordetella Vaccine can be given as early as 8 weeks old if the pups are going to be going places at that age. If they were my pups and I was unsure of the vaccination schedule I would call the guy/girl I got them from to see if they can give you any info if not just go ahead and start giving them vaccines in 3 week intervals. Hope this helps!

we start worming at 2 wks and worm them every two wkeeks and give them there first shot at five to six weeks and they have two before they leave. my husband uses a business card and writes down the wirming and shot information, that way the new owners knows when they were wormed and had their shots.
when picking up your pups you should ask when they had their lost shot and was wormed.

Do not give young pups shots containing LEPTO. It can kill them.

The only time they should be given it is if it is a problem in your area. I don't even give my older dog a shot containing LEPTO.

I gave my pup her shots starting at 9 weeks and boosters every three weeks after for a total of three shots.
