Larry

It has been a pleasure becoming friends with not only You, but your family as well. I am pleased that you have enjoyed hunting Blitz, Old Blitz has been a fine hound all of her life. I guess that Blitz can claim to have caught game from Coast to Coast, along with a fair amount in the mid-west.
Hopefully this will break your bad weather jinx and you will catch several more before the season is done.

Good Job Larry,
It sounds like you and Blitz have the same attitude about hunting. You're both hard headed, persistent, and you don't give up until you get the job done. LOL. That has been her way of doing things her whole life. It looks like the two of you are making a good team. Keep up the good work.

Brian thanks my cats & pics don't hold a candle to yours and Dustin's but they are all i got Lol thanks and good luck PS Jackie is looking awesome congrats

Dustin thanks again for sending her to me as for the hard headed part my father used to tell everyone that i had more brawn than brains lol We started the track around 9:00 jumped the cat within 20 minutes bumped the cat out of the circle and ended up running the darn thing for ever it seemed i told you the condition where better but in the open the snow was up to blitz's back and she was plowing snow all day but like you said she wouldn't quit and neither would we and it all worked out in the end the snow up my way has yet to settle and is way over there heads nice job with dogs out your way glad to see you got to get out and make something happen also nice thank you and good luck larry

Nice Cat, what does a cat that size weight?

I really like that line of hounds, they perform, and even look like hounds should. Do you have any videos with sound of your dogs treed? I'd love to hear their mouths.

If you ever plan a breeding I'd like to know, it's aweful hard to get a good pup around these parts and I'm only a few hours from you.

Keep up the good work, I'm envious of you Mainers and your cat season!!

Mj the cat probably weighs little over thirty i mount a lot of them and its the size of a thirty pound er for sure

as for video check out Jess and Dustin's threads with photo bucket they have tons of them if you click on one of there videos it lets you in to there photo bucket albums I have a new camera that is on my belt at all times and am dieing to get some video of them bayed or treed real soon as the season is almost over and battling the deep snow is making things tough you can be sure if i have the chance i will post it

breeding a litter of the lightfoot dogs as far as mine are concerned is undecided if i do i do not know about selling any of them I'm not a breeder and do not sell dogs very often .

(envy) Believe me i wish you guys would open a season over there that would run february and march I would be there as soon as ours was over you bet. thank you and best of luck if i come across thing decent worth buying I'll drop you a Line

Hey Larry!

Funny thing is... WE had forgotten all about the skulls at this point! Bob had surgery on his thumb... since he severed a tendon and... the rehab is aLOT more involved than you expect! Seeing as it's his Right(dominant) hand... there is NO way he'd be working on a skull yet...LOL.. so NO rush... He can't bend the thumb yet... it is basically useless. It'll get there eventually.....
Mike, if you get a chance to go look at the photobucket stuff Larrys talking about there is some nice stuff there! I have the link in my bookmarks and go visit when I'm stir crazy... As for stir crazy... we do look forward to the stars lining up for a hunt in NH again in 2009!

Have a Good day y'all, Heather

nice bob

cold and deep snow sounds alot like are season here in minnesota first no snow then to much all at once and would drift the tracks away after the dogs ran them half the morning. are season opened november 26 th and closed january 4th we can take 5 with a small game licence. it takes a hound with a cold nose and lots of drive to catch a bobcat in those conditions . how long is your season? enjoy your hound those kind are hard to replace

ps. Ain't the hard part carrying those big cats out in that deep snow. LOL!

glucking our season runs from December 1st to Feb 14th there is no limit but the state reserve the right to stop it when they want to we have to tag our cats within seventy to hours so they can keep tabs on the kills i do not know when the last time was that they actually closed the season early . cats like that one are worth carrying no matter how far away the truck is i would like to carry one that size anytime lol best of luck to you and hope you had a great season Larry

Larry the way your dressed open shirt and all it must have been today nice run and pics, I wanted to go today awful bad but we had regional games for special olympics today at UMO and I run the speedskating. Was over your way last week for state games at Sugarloaf and we're headed to Idaho for s.o. world games friday so my cat season is shot for this year. My daughter is representing Maine and the USA in Boise for the world games. My pup and I only got out to wallow around twice off the Stud Mill road first time we tracked for four miles and he wanted to go more but my legs were dead deep snow ,snowshoes and a leashed year old pup makes these 56 yr old legs feel like rubber so when we crossed a plowed road at least the snowshoes came off and we had an easy 2 mile hike to the truck. Second time we jumped a cat after 30 min and I unleashed, pup did a good job for his first time, 20 min later he was a barking fool I found him in a thick cedar swamp on a tree this cat was smart he went up a cedar and crossed over 2 more then came back down about 50 ft away crossed a beaver dam and high tailed it, what ya wanna bet he's been dogged before, oh well there's always next year. When I get back maybe I'll have time to drill a few holes and try to cut down the coyote population. Once again nice pics.

Light Foot Blitz

Blitz has been one of our foundation females for several years now. Blitz is the Dam of Light Foot Gambler,Throttle,Robin,Rose, Copper and the rest of the outstanding litter from
Light Foot Hawk & Blitz.
Blitz is also the Dam of Light Foot Black Jack, Stiffler,Rev and the rest of the pups from the outstanding litter from Light Foot Dick & Blitz.
One of our other foundation females is Light Foot Hooker.
Hooker is the dam of Light Foot Whiplash,Hawk,Jewell and the rest of that outstanding litter. From the Cross of Light Foot Hooker & Light Foot Mr. Red Bird
Hooker is also the Dam of Light Foot Coby,Ruthless the only two that lived from the cross of Light Foot Dick & Hooker

Light Foot Blitz & Light Foot Hawk produced the most athletically gifted litter that I have ever seen. This was the crossing of Hooker & Blitz. When we breed Blitz the next time it will be to Light Foot Dealer a litter mate to Hooker.
It was the trust and confidence that Dustin and I have in Larry that allowed us to send Blitz to Larry for this hunting season. Blitz and Hooker have done a lot to help put the Light Foot hounds where they today, However it's the Hard,Honest hunters that have put these hound in the timber day after day have helped us even more.
Thank You all

big cats

ours are about the same size for the average big ones the biggest i have mounted so far was 48lbs the biggest form McKenzie had for a cat is what i started and altered it to fit from there. i found you have the best choices in forms for the cats that weigh between 20 to mid 30s i can usually get one in McKenzie that is close so as to cut down on alteration time i believe the form #BC-41 is the one i use the most for the cats in that weight range as long as it the position that suits the customer the most you can stretch the form out by adding to the middle and a little in the neck to get the nose to tail length you need if you need a little broader head i have tried different things to broaden the head i think the best way i found so far is get the closest eye to nose measurement on your form and broaden out the form sculpting out ward under the ears a before mounting them hope this helps Larry

cat hunting seen 3 killed 0

well i went out again today we found a lot of old tracks and and one fresh kitten we neglected to run and finally put blitz down on a decent track walking up a single snowmobile track we followed her up around the corner and she was in a huge brush pile barking real good i circled the brush pile and there was three more tracks all going in none coming out and she was down inside I dug and moved enough to get within about six feet of her and was able to coax her back to me i handed her up and out to the guys i was with and they hooked her outside i went back in and rip and dug out all i could move and i could see two cats that there was no way to harvest and or retrieve them while i was helping get another guy in to see them which he did his brother called and said he had found another so we we left them alone and went and put Blitz Down on that one she cold trailed out nicely and was moving as good as a dog can go in 3.5 feet of powder i decide to try tremor 1.5 old who was walked in to the brush pile hole with blitz but as far as i know has never been on a cat before today (Dustin would have to verify) I let him go and he stayed with her for about 45mins before i heard him open and they had the cat circling so as we decided to move in towards the circle i let my four month old blue cruz go he went out on the trail hit the dogs tracks and was gone as i caught up with the dogs behind the cat every time i saw them they where all together and then cruz started opening the longer they ran the more he was barking he stayed in till the end a guy and his wife where hunting with me and the cat came out in front of her and at 50 yards and stopped she pulled up and fired when her husband said he heard the dreaded click we had moved up to them on the snowmobiles and he had unloaded the shotgun because of our laws and safety reasons and they never loaded it when we headed into the woods the dogs finally wore themselves out trying to work out a loss the to young dogs came out to the sleds and then blitz. i tied the young ones up and blitz and I tried to work it out until I figured she had had enough I'm confident that if the conditions where not so tough on them they would have been able to hunt out far enough to pick it back up we all had a great day and where very fortunate to see the three cats that will be there to run another day the husband happened to ask me as we where loading the sleds and dogs what it took to get a dog running cats to which i replied well usually a lot of walking but with these lightfoot dogs it seems all you need is a cat track and let them loose i have let three of them go this season on there first cat on snow and none of them have ever looked back my dads zeva pup went the first time from start to hole .my brothers Clyde dog went 8.5 hours on a mean fighting walking bear the first time we let him go. thanks for reading and best of luck Larry here are some pics of the dogs in the brush pile I did not let cruiz loose there at all because of his size i did not want him to get lost or stuck in the pile. I could be more happier with all my lightfoot bred hounds keep up the great work you guys and thank you all once again for everything

this is what happens here to larry i just hate thouse log piles i had two cats in one pile as big as ahouse they came out at night and was back buy morning for two weeks i thought they would starve i put dogs on cold tracks just for fun they took them fast into a willow swamp got quite i went in there was a dead deer it was just about gone its been a very cold winter and deep snow thouse young cats need food and shelter so as much as i hate them piles you got to love theme to. keep after thouse cats and put them on old tracks practice makes perfect you will have better dog in the end. guy lucking breed right kennels

Guy I know they are a necessary evil holes and huge brush piles i don't mind them as long as i get to at least see a cat in them it is a lot easier to walk away you do not feel quite as robbed lol

Jess as far as my training ability well i don't know i can tell you this it has been a lot easier to let the dogs loose when you have a great dog like Blitz for them to go to thanks to you Dustin ,Brian and all others who might have cut her loose before me my thumb on my right hand sometimes locks up but with the young lightfoot dogs I have it seems to be coming out of it LOL

Jess i always say if you scared say your scared well look at this picture i,m scared blitz has done her part every time i take her out when we got the cat the other day she even licked my face (i think it was because i had the cat on my shoulders ) but i think if i don't get her another one soon it might be a very dangerous spring and summer untill bear season lol
