Tonights Hunt. Introduced A Family To the Sport.

One of the gals at work has a B&T that she rescued and has been wanting to go on a hunt. Saturday she and her family came to the bench show/field trial at the Manassas club and had a great time Today her husband called and asked if I was still planning on going tonight? I told him yes and we set a time to meet.

We turned Boone and Pride loose a lil after 7pm. They made a half circle and we jumped into the truck to get closer. When we got out of the truck they had crossed behind us so back in the truck we go. Drove up on top of a lil hill and they were treed about 900 yards away. They were ready to start walking... I told them to get back in the truck I could drive us closer. LOL We ended up walking a lil over 400 yards to the tree. They were treed on a TALLLLLLL Poplar tree with the coon sitting allllllllllllllllll the way at the top. Since she didn't want to see one knocked out I had left the gun at home. I tried to show the coon to all of three of them but I'm not sure if she saw it for sure or not. After snapping a few pics I leashed them up and we headed for the truck. When we got back to the truck I took off the tracking collars and loaded the dogs. They asked ' Where we turning loose next'? I told them we were calling it a night. LOL

They can't wait to go again.

way to go man. 3 more people out there with a better understanding of why anyone could chase dogs around in the dark.

I took a couple first timers out friday night. They were impressed, and came out with a new point of view.

I had to laugh though, we treed 3 singles, probably walked 1/4 to all 3 trees, never even left the patch of woods, and they were flat wore out.

AWESOME!

What a THRILL that must have been for them! Really cool to see new hunters in the making! There are SO many people who just don't understand what coonhunting is all about... the sound of the dogs, the sounds of the woods at night etc...

great pictures Hobo i dont belive i would know what to do with all that driving round to get closer.......you should come up for a hunt sometimes

I grew up in Sw Va... I know all about climbing Mtns and walking close to the edge of a 100 foor high wall.
