Is Black Gold Still A Good Dog Food?
IS BLACK GOLD STILL A GOOD DOG FOOD.TO ME IT SEEMS THE PRICE HAS GONE UP,BUT THE QUALITY HAS GONE WAY DOWN.PLEASE GIVE ME ALL YOUR FEED BACK ON BLACK GOLD...THANK YOU...

I feed Black Gold and like it just as well as any other feed that i've tried. Its $23.50 for the black bag around here. Seems now-a-days the price goes up and quality goes down on everything.

I feed black gold in the black bag.. its 20.00 dollars a bag here. i was feeding ol roy. and i can tell a big difference overall.. But i havent been feeding it since about sept. of last year. so i dont know if the quality has went down..

I still feed it but think it has went down hill alittle..The last bag I got had 2 different colors of food in it!!! Something was different forsure! It keeps on getting worse.I'll be switching..I heard the plant that did make the bulk of it was bought out by purina..Since blackgold dont have a plant of their own..They started letting other little plants start making the food! I also heard they are in the process of building their own plant..
If they ever get theyre own mill up and runnin, whatch out. John Allen and his family were big time in the foxhound world, for years, they know dogs, and what it take to feed hard working dogs. 10 years ago every blend they made was worth feeding. Would like to see a private company make a comeback with quality and value.

It had to once be good to "still" be good. I dont think it has ever been anything other than a mediocre dog food at best. Yes I fed it for a solid year and it was not good. Dogs always hunted on it but began to look bad. Had one dog that I kept on Pro Plan and he is the only one that stayed looking right. I then put the rest of dogs on Diamond and within a week their coats started ti improve. I would never reccommend Black Gold to anyone.

I think Black Gold and Diamond are both in the same category, mediocare at best, but on the same hand, I have been feeding Purina Hi Pro for 6 years and have seen it go down hill some also, I dont think that it is the feed it was five years ago, but it is still better than most in my opinion.

I fed it for about 6 years and then started noticing something diff dog's stoles were getting soft had to feed more to keep dog's up and then the price went sky high and was hearing the same from some of my buddies that were feeding it. I switched to KENNY O and love it dog's are doing well on it I have been feeding it for about 6 months know

Pay attention to what this man says. The cumulative effects of feeding cheap food can be very noticeable for some, and not for others.

Where can you get the Kenny O feed? I would like to try it on my dogs.
The feed was excellent at one time. If youve fed it in the last five years you problly dont think so. I fed and sold it for ten years and watched it go down hill. The place they had making it got bought by Mars Inc. seems to me thats when it started slipping.

SKYWARD if do your home work you see that the ingredients are about the same meat base not corn I know Black Gold has had some problems with there milling proccess. Kenny had done his home work. There are plenty of other feed close buy use that we could have switched too but we did not care for them. Kenny brings this down to us from PA it's about a 6 hour drive
