dogs treed go to tree find hole .no leaves 30 degrees ,9 oclock at night and windy ,out in the very top limbs sit two squirrels. could they have run the coon up the tree it went in the hole and squirrels ran out .a couple people told me that is what could have happened .

I would agree with the coon chasing the squrrils out of the hole. That would be why they were at the top after dark.

2 weeks ago we had a coon treed. the guy with me shot 2 or 3 times and missed the coon. all of a sudden while we had our lights on the coon before the final shot, a squirrel jumped from one limb to the other and almost landed on the coon... weirdest thing ever. a month ago our dogs treed, and after 4or 5 minutes of looking we found a squirrel. no nest or den in the tree and it was 3 hours after dark....

Just tonight, about 8 pm, our three males were going ape schnitz about something. We ususally can get them to hush if it's just careless barking. But they were not giving up at all. Sam went out to see what the problem was and did not see a thing. He kept hearing some rustling around in the woods, but could not make out what it was. I took the light out to him and there they were ! We counted 4 squirrels playing in the tops of the trees right in site of the dang hounds. They were not the least worried about us shining them. To shut the hounds up, he went in and got his 22 and shot it to make the squirrels GO HOME for the night!!...LOL...All is quiet now...
