I could never figure my Magellan GPS out. Too many buttons and pages to figure. I bought a Backtrack and figured it out quick. Turn it on with the button on the right. Let the satelite lock and lock your spot with the button on the left. Turn it off with the button on the right and go to the dog. Turn in back on with the button on the right and go back to the truck. Only thing you have to be careful of is making sure that you leave it on the icon you locked on to(I think thereis a house star and car icon). You can lock 3 positions. Make sure when you turn it on it is on the position you started with.

Im on my second one . The first one did not last long and started locking up . The one I have now works fine so far . What I like about them is u mark your truck and if u keep recasting when u get done hunting turn it on and it will take u back to the truck u cant do that with a compass. I dont no how good they will get satellite when the trees get full of leaves.

Mine holds a signal in the truck, I would think it would work under the leaves but time will tell.

I used one during our bear season here, it locked up several times due to the cold, and had some problems with thick cloud cover, it didn't always point north in compass mode. I think you could get yourself in trouble quick if you relied on it. I'll keep testing it though, maybe it was just the extreme cold. When kept warm it seemed to work decent enough...jsb

I considered buying one , but bought the Garmin Dog tracker instead. The Garmin will track your dogs AND get you back to the truck both! Kill 2 bird with 1 stone...
