Got my first litter comin, want some opinions.....

gonna sell a few, but this is my first litter of hounds I have raised, as I am picky about what I breed, they should be born in about 5 weeks.....it was an accidental cross, yet it was a cross I was gonna make in the future, after the female proved herself........the sire is out of Bullet, and a daughter to Jet V, named Becky, she is #8 in the top producers right now, and the dam to the pups is out of Runnin Rattler, and a dual grand female named Joey, that was Triple D bred (mainly old grover breeding) so the pups will be doubled up on Jet V, Chief, Bullet, SR Fly, Spanky, with the Becky female, and the Joey female.......now, the male is one of the nicest hounds I have had on my place, he is about 50lbs, a nice tight male, just very well balanced, will hold pressure, has no problem gettin off by himself, show ch., pale with a couple body spots, got the bullet head, a nice accurate consistant hound, opens according to track, nice tenor bawl, moves track very well, nice locate, bawl on tree, got a second place win on him with 475+, have had him in three UKC hunts, and he is the first dog I have hunted in comp....the female is about 75lbs, colored up a lot like her daddy, rattler, real white with a lot of body spots, real houndy, looks like a stud dog, big rolling bawl mouth, very loud, good quick strike dog, moves track well, straight from the time I got her, bout 14 months, she was a natural from the start, but she got ear mites real bad before I got her, and wont always lock up now, but she is improving as I get the mites cleared up, she is out of a litter of naturals, as far as I know, bout every pup was a natural tree dog, just naturals all the way around, Kirk Wigley had a littermate to her, one of the best females he had owned.....now I wasnt gonna make this cross til she had proven herself, but my neice was playin with my stud, and decided to turn him loose, lol, and it happened, lol........now, what should I ask for these pups? How hard a time am I gonna have movin them, they will be ready about the first of Nov, I do believe........I was thinkin maybe $100.......will welcome any opinions.......

BE READY FOR ANYTHING!!

We thought that we'd raise a litter of Walker pups and make some money off of them. WRONG! Mother ended up getting milk poisoning when the pups were 1 day old and we had to bottle raise all 5 of them. It was not fun, was much $$$$$, and it was hard work. It cost us about $100/week just for formula. But, they're healthy pups now though.

Well, I'm a Walker girl...

But we just bred our dogs (pups that I was talking about) and neither one of them are titled other than show titles, and I haven't had any problem selling them.

Word of Mouth is the best way to sell pups.

well.....

I think they will make real nice pups, this male I got, is just about everything I like in a dog, the only things I would change is him huntin just a tad harder, and bein a lil harder tree dog.....he stays treed, but I like a hard tree dog, he is about 65-70 a min, bawl mouth, but she is out of rattler, so I am doublin up on everything I like, with rattler bein out of same sire, and littermate dams to my male dog, and my gyps bottom side, the Triple D dogs, they are tree dogs......and her littermates were all natural hard tree dogs, and she was when she was young.....but hey, it happened, I am gonna keep a pair myself, just wonderin if knowin all the info on these two dogs, how hard it is gonna be to move the pups.......and any opinions anyone has on this cross......thanx all

Well, Bluestyle in my opinion if you dont get a litter of coondogs then it sure aint your fault cause it sounds like an outstanding cross. Matter of fact, where are you located and are you serious about the $100 stuff or are you just kidding??? My personal opinion is just like you said........ double up on the stuff you really like. That sounds like exactly what you done. Good luck!!!!!

black sheep......

I appreciate the response, and encouraging words, I have never raised a litter of hounds, I have been huntin since I was 8, I am 22 now, but just never quite had what I wanted, I am gettin close, but I guess we will see if I am there or not.....I am in oklahoma, south central......I do think it should make a good cross, I am gonna keep a pair, then cross those pups I keep, if they make it, back onto a chief male and a june female, or something similiar....stick with the smokey river blood, but a diff bit of blood......yes, I couldnt in good conscious ask any more than $100, as neither parents have been proven in the coonhunting world, aka nite hunt world, yet they are here, and I am feedin them, that speaks a lot for them, as far as i am concerned.....and I can give references on the male, and the littermates of the female, I aint hunted her with anything other than my own dogs, I am real picky bout what I hunt my young dogs with........but I would love to get them into hunters hands, I dont care if they are comp hunted or not, but would be nice, but as long as they get a chance in the woods, thats what counts to me.......thanx for the opinion, I appreciate it......any others are welcome.....
