health ?

I have a dog that has scabs and or bumpy sores the size of a dime mostly on his head, chest and legs. They never go away the dog acts good like they don't bother him but I know they have to. I changed his feed but has not helped, antibiotics did not keep it clear. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what's the cure. Thanks in advance, David James

Might be Ringworm, try some Athletes Foot creme and see if it clears up at all.

if not it may be an allergy of some sort. I had a dog that would kinda get like that when she had been hunted in briars, her face and legs would swell up.

one of mine had something similar, turned out to be allergies. if the other suggestions do not work, have them blood tested for allergies. it costs me $120 but work it to avoid stabbing in the dark.

What was the antibiotics used?

How long on them? If you pick off the scab does it reveal a red area that you can see his hair in but the hair is very short and if you pick the scab does it crust over by the next day??

yes, and if you rub over scab it just crumbles real fine like when you rub over a flea infested area.

Given that it prob isnt Ringworm, but more than likley an allergy of some sort.

I see you are in Tenn. have you had enough cold in your part to knock the fleas down?Prob a stupid question LOL, but hey Its been 70 in the day here for over a week now. lol

What kind of bedding do you use?

We had a dog that was allergic to hay. We had to use cedar chips for her bedding. Try switching the pups bedding. Good luck.

he don't have fleas, and i have used straw, cedar, and pine chips. still front and back legs are covered and some on chest and head. guess i'll have to have blood tested for allergies.

IT DID IN FACT, TURN OUT TO BE A BACTERIAL INFECTION. SWAMP WATER OR STAGNANT WATER IS WHERE HE GOT IT. I BEEN HUNTING FOR 40 YR AND THIS WAS A FIRST FOR ME. IT TOOK A FULL 2 MONTHS OF ANTIBIOTICS TO CLEAR IT UP. ANOTHER GUY HERE LOCAL HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM TWICE THIS SEASON.
