Advise for the big 3 auto makers...

I'm not advocating for the bail out of the big 3,, or against it either here , but I would like to give some advise if we are gonna have some of my tax dollars in the mix...

How about some of these suggestions;

1. Make every 15 inch wheel the same bolt pattern , so I can use any that I can find and make it work, instead of me running all over to get that '' special'' one...

2. Instead of having to take my truck in to see what that check engine light means ,, how about it just telling me that the gas cap is loose , so I dont have to pay a mechanic $40 to tighten it.

3. How about some universal parts , like altanators , belts , hoses, headlights, brake pads and such , so I dont have to go back because they make 3 or 4 kinds for my model of car..

I am not for or against the car makers or the union , but I sure do think alot of things could be made allittle more user friendly and save us all alot of headaches....

Yeah I know, its a pidly thing , but its to cold to hunt and I had a bad experiance at the parts store today , so it was on my mind today.......

Not going to happen Longshot. You know people out there work to make our lifes tougher. An automaker could make a 4, 6, and a 8 cyl with all kinds of interchangeable parts from the wheels to the charging system but they never have and never will. Funny, I visit many factories throughout the year and the hard working small owners (small facilities) have their manufacturing down to a "T" to be compatable inside their plant.

Good thinking though Mark, sure does make more sence dont it. Back when I was a tool and die maker I would work so hard at being productive I would count how many steps it took me to go from my maching to the tool box lol. I swear I think I counted how many steps it took me to go the the mailbox one morning.

Think I should count how many steps it takes for my hound to tree his coon? haha (my dog cant tree a coon)

And make ie easier to change a fan belt on my kids Ford escort. In order to do this I had to jack up the car, take off the front tire, take the inside fender well apart. lol I normally do this for a flat tire. lol.

kinda sounds like a dodge intrepid I used to have. you had to take the passenger tire off and pull out the fender shroud to change the battery. it was also a front wheel drive car that had the motor in straight.

Chysler anounces this morning it will be closing down for a month. Talks about merging with GM. Intrest rates falling again, the media is killing us.
