For Heart worms

First be sure the dog is heart worm free or has been on a prevention program.
I use 2 /10 of a cc for 65 pounds once a month. That's enough for heart worm prevention, if you compare the dosage to the heart gard pills. I use the Hog and cattle injectable, squirt it on a piece of breed and the dogs wolf it down.
I cut back from giving too much. I had a 90 pound Reddog and was giving him approx 1 cc per month. He would get sick 3 or 4 times a year and would go off his feed for about 3 days, I cut back on the Ivomec and he quit having these problems.
To get other parasites or most worms I give 1/2 cc. for 65 lbs. Not every month though.

the only trouble i have heard of using ivomec is when a dog already has heart worms prior to getting ivomec is it can kill the dog as heart worms need to be dealt with by killing them in small numbers at a time otherwise if there all killed at the same time it could happen thay the dead worms stop up the blood supply by blocking off the arteries and veins causing death

so i would have the dog checked for heartworms befor starting with ivomec

This is what I do. I give 1/10 of cc for 10 lbs of body weigh. Never give it to a pup under 6 months of age. Give them this dose every 3 months and they are good. Now for the heartworms. If they have heartworms yes it could kill them. Some people us it when the dog has heartworms to kill them. Use small doses for this and keep increaseing the amount. It does work but if heartworms are real bad the damage is already done. start your young hounds on Ivomec and you will not have heartworms. You can tell if it works because you can see the rough hair disappear and worms in the stool that are daed. I do chance the way of giving it. WHY YOU ASK?You can kill the worms in them but don't kill the ones in the intestances. This way you kill both.
