TW Bloodline Influenced by Decade for Hunt/Show.

Asking for your opinion, I guess in somewhat of a poll. Please no hasteful or harsh comments about a particular dog or line. what in YOUR OPINION would be the most influencial bloodlines per decade. Simply gathering the publics opinion based on the TW breed. Suggestions needed for both Hunt and Show lines. Please don't list particular people, just the dogs name.

Example being: 2000's: hunt = Rat Attack show = Mundar.

HUNT
2000's:
1990's:
1980's:
1970's:

1990's:
1980's:

Info

Apparently there are no suggestions. I'm not doing this to make a ruckus; it’s for an article about the history of the Walker breed from start to current. I have my opinion of who was who per decade, but I'd like to get everyone covered.

If you would rather email me your suggestions or PM that would be acceptable. No names will be mentioned. The article will be written regarding "breeders". So please keep that in mind.

Thank you.

I'm not too sharp on my history, especially the dates but I'm sure Giddings and Jr. belong in there, probably in the 90"s
I think Lipper and Nailor kinda shared a decade, prolly the 80"s?
Pac Man for sure, was that the 70"s? Below that you need to place the Yadkin dogs, Spring Creek Rock, Flag, Lee Logans contribution, Pride Gann and Greg Minkler.
I will cetainly enjoy reading this article, especially coming from someone who's family history is a huge part of the Walker history. Will it come out in Bloodlines?

Well, I guess most would know who would hold the 40s spot???lol
Nance bred dogs

The period between the 50-70s is which I am not so sure about.

50s? Hershberger dogs?

60s Sailor bred dogs

70s Finley River and Yadkin River dogs.

80s Lipper & Pacman

90s Sackett Jr & Nailor

2000s Rat

Thanks Jim

I didn't think of Pac Man. See this really helped.

No, it will not be for a UKC magazine or the Cooner. But Jim if you would email me your address, I will be getting extra copies, be happy to mail you one.

Though I am a decendent of Lester Nance, I'm certaining finding the early years very interesting. What has amazed me is that in the late 40's and 50's the average size of a female dog was 23", while a male dog was a little under 26" (the exact MIDDLE of our standards today). It notes that the smaller size was to set apart from the tall and leggy Foxhounds. Building a stocky square look. It amazed me how the walker/foxhound females were bred to Black N Tans and even a bluetick female crossed over on the Walker/Foxhound male for this very purpose.

What 60 years has done to a breed!

1980's

I think World Nite Champion Hillbilly Mac should also be added for the hunt. Show I would have to Gold Dust dogs have been a major factor for a long time.

Its funny how the History and org.s of theses hounds are so different.. This is how the First Treeing Walker Assoc. Discribed their History. How they Crossed the Large Treeing Bloodhounds on Northern Ind. to the Southern Birdsong/Trigg of Southern Ind...

Please look at the Birdsong "Irish Hound" below and compair to the Current "Treeing Walker" very sim.

White River Rick showed up in a lot of the show pedigree's and was also a Gr. Nite himself. The 80's I believe.

I think Logan's Wild Clover would deserve a slot in there in the 80's although most of his influence was seen in the early 90's. A good percentage of studs today show Clover in they're background. Less than 200 pups but he influenced the breed greatly.

He's also a great grandson of Merchant's Bawling Barney on top and Finley River Chief on the bottom.

Thanks

Would like to thank the hunting folks for your emails and PM's. The readings are very informative. Funny how for once NO show dog people have an opinion!

Jim - got your address, when the magazine is distributed in January and February of 2009 - I'll send you a copy.

In the 1950's there are two stand out dogs. " Incredible Rock ", 2 times ACHA World Champion, 1952 and 1953. Merchant's Bawlie 3 times ACHA World Champion, also winning the Mountain Music Hunt several times and never losing a Nite Champion cast. There wasn't a Grand Nite class back then.

John and HickoryNutt - thanks for the input. We had some of them and didn't think of the others. But all this information is helping us tie them all back together.

Blueticking:it - got your dads line with Rowdy and Boomer consistant for years in type and ability. Talked about Sid Underwood, Tammy line and Val neslon, along with Jr. Lassiter and Table rock line, leading into Sheldon and the continued Mundar. Believe we also thought of White River Rick and Bear in the 70-80's.
