World hunt where the coons are

I have seen multiple hunts like the pkc world hunt and they hardly ever score on coons. i know most will say you have to have a coon dog to win down there but what is your definition of a coon dog. it seems everyones definition is different , i would how that ukc keeps the world hunt up north or in the same are where it was held in 2008 rather score 1000 points and be split all night and get beat , then tree one coon and all the dogs be on the same tree!!!!!!!!!

World Hunt's

I think everybody out there would like to have it in their backdoor.

Keep them rotating I think that is the best thing.

Right now it's the most rotated big hunt of all. I hope that they keep doing it like they are now.

It wouldn't matter anyways Jason. If they had it down there and the winner scored on 4 or 5 coon , you'd still swear up and down that they cheated. Ain't no way you'd admit that you don't have dog enough to get it done.

Kinda like someone else on here. I heard it said that they used to have a dog that would tree 4 or 5 coon a night and make it look easy. HOWEVER , the stud dog they have now can only tree one or two. But , that's because coon are so scarce. They didn't seem to be so scarce when they had that other dog ! LOL

Back a year or so ago when this dog of mine was in her prime i could tree coons as long as i wanted to turn her loose. Thats the truth. If you think we got the kinda coons down here that you got up there then your sadly mistaken. You set up there in michigan on your high horse and turn loose with the kinda coon population you have and don't understand what it's like down here in the REAL WORLD. Turn that dog loose and wait 30 minutes and never even hear him strike till you've climbed two ridges and went a half a mile. Then you can barely hear the dog treed in there about a mile and a half deep from that sport. Climb 6 or 7 more ridges to get to the dog. Do that a few times and that tone of yours will change fast.

Why does it matter where, there will be a winner with plus points any where its held and there will be a UKC World Champion Crowned. It doesnt matter if its 225+ or 1000+ going to still be World Champion. Jmo PS a COONDOG IS A COONDOG no matter where you drop them. Mike Cayton Timberlake Kennels the place where we tree a few coon no matter what state we hunt.

Anybody from North Georgia knows exactly what I'm talking about UNLESS they're the type that all they ever do is turn grown dogs loose on feeder buckets all night. That kind doesn't know what coonhunting is anyway.

Where he hunts a walker can not do much if any better. It takes a go yonder dog that takes what ever track it finds because it may be the ONLY track available.

Wow, I guess I just learned something....the hardest place to tree a coon is in Georgia...and only real coondogs are in Georgia. Give me a friggin brake jason, until you've hunted every area, in every state...you need to get off your high horse. I'd love to hear your excuse when your own dog does the same in Michigan as it does in Georgia.

Try coming up to NH, and hunt when it's 10 degrees with 25 mile per hour winds. You'll strap on snowshoes and hike in knee deep snow following dog tracks...crossing snowfields where the wind takes your breathe away while the cold cuts through your jacket like a thousand knives. The dogs might cover miles looking for a coon, and you could go nights without even getting one treed. These conditions can take your life if you're dumb enough. Do they have this in Georgia? It's tough up here in the winter, but I wouldn't claim to have the toughest conditions...I havent seen what others deal with.

Re: Re: coons

When are actually going to rotate it? It is always in the midwest. If they want to rotate it fairly then bring it down here to the deep south, lets say Florida. I would pay good money to see some of those northern dogs do it down here in this enviroment!

You gotta think about one thing as far as the pkc world hunt goes, they hunt that area for 2 weeks straight. they have the fall super stakes there first and than the world hunt starts after that. you might get drawn to hunt a place that has been hunted every nite for the past week.

No he wouldn't, why would he subject his dog to those vicious monsters that'll be hunting with it?....and he'd be up to his ears in slick cheaters trying to steal his money lol

Didn't they have it in Tennessee 3 years ago? Did Y'all just start hunting or are your memories that short? Mr Smokey, did you hunt in it when it was 3 hrs from your house? Aren't they going to have it in the Mountains of East Tennessee this year? Todd K must be listening to you! Mr Lautzenhiser can you spell Winter Classic? Do you pay good money to hunt in it? I went there last year and hunted in Florida. Four good dogs and we did not see a coon.

I CAN TELL ALL YOU COMPUTERS SOME THING. IT IS NOT EASY TO WIN A HUNT IN OTHER STATES. IT TAKES A COON DOG TO WIN. I USE TO HAVE PEOPLE COME TO MY HOUSE IN KILLS SEASON ONCE A YEAR FROM N.C. AND THEIR DOGS COULDNT EVEN TREE A COON INTILL AFTER THE FIRST WEEK. THEY WERE USET TO THE BUCKETS. AND YOU NEED TO TAKE A DOG TO DIFFERNT COUNRTY A WEEK EARLY IF YOU ARE GOING TO TRY TO WIN A HUNT. A DOG THAT HUNTEDS IN ALL KINDS OF TERRIAN WILL BEAT A DOG THAT NEVER HAS. ITS CALLED AJUST

Coondogs??????

If they have it in WV you would have a true coonhound to win the world. We have coons here but you are not going to tree 10 in a cast. You can score 3 to 5 in a hunt, but they will earn them. Milton, WV would be the perfect location. It is centralized from north to south. Come on UKC give us a shot at putting it on!
