Question on Shocking Systems

I am looking at purchasing a new shocking system and wandering if anybody had any pros/cons on the two I was looking at . They are the Tri- Tronics Trashbreaker and the Sportdog HoundHunter 3200. Any input would be appriciated. Thanks. J.W.

shock

I have a ultra trashbraker, no major problems, I did send it back to Arizona one time for a update and tune up , I think that was about a 100 bucks but overall its not a bad unit, mine is about 10 years old and has two collars . the way electronic stuff goes out of date these days, I'am sure there is better ones on the market but for what money I had to spend at the time it fit my budget . I hunt in big country and it will reach out there when needed. It does get throwed around in the truck a bit, It might be 100 degrees or 10 below , it seems to work the same , water don't seem to be a issue, rain, creeks etc. etc. if I had to buy another one for myself I would probably buy a tri-tronics .

Had Both

For the last 25 yrs. I've a Tri-tronic system, but decided to get a new unit in Jan. And bought a 3200. It's done everything that needs done since then. I also really like the small transmitter that can go in your pocket AND the lower price. Also, I wasn't clear on the programming and called their customer service # and she had me all set in a couple minutes. Way better than when I called Tri-tronics!!! Also, when I first got mine at Cabellas, the collar wouldn't charge and when I called Sport Dog about it, they sent me another collar immediately and a return postage paid sticker to send the collar back. Take care, Ron.

shocking systems

Thanks for the response guys. It sounds like i cant go wrong with either one. Still undecided though, doesnt the Trashbreaker come with a tone button? Anyone else have any comments about the DT 3200 or the Trashbreaker?

trashbreaker or classic 70..but be careful cause they can ruin a good dog as much as they can break them from bad habits. Let a guy have a rabbit dog i used to have that i raised she was a HARD hunting dog. Would bump a deer a little he broke that. then he wanted her to mind better and started shocking her for hunting her style and totally ruined the dog. That dog would seriously bloody herself from nose to tail working briars so thick a rabbit would have a hard time getting in. After the shock collar you couldnt throw her in the weeds.

I prefer if its not necessary not to ever use one on a dog but if you do always work the warning button before the juice. Wont take many they will hear the warning and quit whatever their doing wrong. The warning button is the most handy thing ever put on shock systems.

I bought a Trashbreaker XL 6 years ago and used it alot. Six years later it is still going 3 nights of hunting between charges and has never had any kind of problem. Last Friday I called TriTronics and they offered me $100.00 on it for trade on a new Classic 70 series. Anytime I can wear something out for 6 years and get 25% back on it, I'm a happy camper.

I know which one you shouldn't waste your money on!!! SportDog Brand SportHunter SD-800. I bought it at TSC about 6-8 months ago. It was good about 4 months, not even using it a lot. I NEVER used it outside, it was more for training 'luggerhead' in the house. It has completely DIED!! The rubber caps that are on the buttons fell off, the antenae fell off the transmitter, the prongs inside the collar and the transmitter have bent, the charger connectors have fallen apart. IT ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT TAKE A CHARGE!! I even tried taking the entire thing apart last night, to check to see maybe a wire had came loose. Nope, everything looked ok, and no corrosion. It is simply dead! I'm going to have to save my pennies nad buy a Tri-Tronics I guess.

Shocker

I have the sport dog and it works great! Seems like the collar stays charged forever. Tritronics are nice also I've owned both. Which ever way you go you can't go wrong.
