Hmmm

I've heard of Ivomec being used for alot of things but I have never heard of it beng used simply for a dog loosing it's voice .
Used to be alot of discussion of it being the actual cause of some dogs loosing their mouths but that was never really substantiated and I have my doubts about that .
Ivomec is used to control parasites and is not a cure all for other conditions.

YOU DO NOT USE IVOMEC FOR THAT,IT USED FOR HEART WORM PREVENTION.DOES YOUR DOG HAVE A RASPY VOICE OR IS IT REALLY WEAK.TRY SOME ROBITUSSIUM COUGH SYRUP ON THE DOG AND SOME PENICILLIN PILLS.KENNEL COUGH MAKE THEM LOSE THERE VOICE,IT IS LIKE A COLD.DOES THE SOUND LIKE IT HAS STUFF IN IT'S LUNGS.ALSO THE DOG DOES COUGH UP A YELLOWISH LOOKING STUFF OR YOUR DOG COULD HAVE LEARINGUSTIONS,LIKE WE GET A COLD.I HAVE HAD DOGS WITH BOTH THINGS AND THEY WILL LOSE THERE VOICE.ASLO YOU GIVE THE DOG SOME AMOXICILLAN PILLS,ALSO IT IS A VERY GOOD ANTIBOTIC.

Don't use Ivomec!! Use LA-200. 3cc by mouth for 3 days, then go off for 3 days. If no better after the 3 days off, go back to 3cc for 3 days.. It works great...

La 200

It is cattle antibiotics. But I've used it on dogs that have lost there voice or hoarse. It works good 2-3 cc right down there throat for 3 days and they'll be fine.

It's an injectable antibiotic that you can get at farm supply stores.
It's sold as an antibiotic for use in cattle and other farm animals and is actually a package name for Liquimyacin. A widely used good broad based antibiotic.

The Ivomec may be responsible for the dog losing it's voice!

The responses about the LA-200 are correct. You can deliver this antibiotic either orally or Intramuscularly...it is probably most effective in the muscle....but whatever works for you.

There are two other steps that you could and most likely should take.

1. Do whatever you must do to stop the dog from barking. Usually a loss in voice is due to over use of the vocal chords, inflammation from infection, or both. Stop the barking

2. Take the dog to the vet and get some cortisone. The LA-200 will treat the infection if one is present, but it will not reduce the inflammation. Likewise, if the inflammation is from over use....keeping the dog quiet will help, but the cortisone will go a long ways to reducing the inflammation....

Remember, that much of this loss of voice can be both temporary and permanent. The temporary loss is likely due to infection, and if treated in time, the dog will recover completely. If from over use, without prompt treatment, the loss is permanent.

LA 200 is a long acting oxytetracline in liqiud form. if injected into the muscle, be careful not to get bit because it burns like a 2@#%$^....i would give it orally to dog..
