goin possum huntin

I went and got a dog from a guy today to tree possum with. Didnt want to ruin a good dog. I seen a guy had one for sale that he couldnt break off possum and wanted 75 dollars for her so I went and got her. Gauranted her is what im talkin bout. I told my buddy what will be even worst is if I gotta take her back lol.

Went down to one of my huntin spots the other night and seen 7 possums in less than an hour and the dogs didnt tree none of them, that was just sittin out on the ground. I thought it might be kind of fun. Coon huntin and tryin to train dogs and everything else can get alittle stressfull and serious. Somthin to do on these old nasty nights.

That is good to take out with your coon dogs to make sure they won't sin too. If I could house more dogs I would keep one just to run with my coon dogs every now and then. Wouldn't want to kill the possoms out though. I like walking threw the woods seeing what my dogs could had screwed up on and didn't. Makes me smile. ( :

Rabbit Man

I remember a couple of years back, an elderly man was looking hard for a good possum dog. He explained, that he loved to hunt with hounds, but the coon track was too hard for him to follow.
Aparently he found a good possom dog, because I have not heard from him in so long.
There is nothing at all wrong with it in my eyes, if a fellow houndsman prefers his hound to tree possoms, so be it.
Good luck with your Possom dog, I hope you get many grins out of him.

I tell ya I had a good time. nothin like coon huntin but itll be fun on them rainy nasty nights when there aint nothin but possums out movin. She seems to be a dern good one. Trailed a couple of them possums for a long ways. Little loose on the tree but i figured the guy I got her from had probably beet her for possums. Yea like I said the guy I got her from gauranteed her to tree possums and I told my friend it would be bad if I had to take her back. He told me she would tree a coon if she come across it. My wife said when I was leavin "You probably tree coons alnight" lol.

Rabbitman,
I think I'm gonna start a Possum treein' Collage here in Arkansas. I believe this is possum heaven and every possum killed in the world ends up in possum heaven..If you need another grinner gitter I'll train you one !!! If not we have some Foundation Stock American Bluetick Possum Hounds that we can breed and have ready to hunt in no time at all...Most of them are strait possum/ no trash kinda dogs/ very consistant/and deadly accurate!!!!

Lol thats what she is , a bluetick. I started lookin for a possum dog and kind of had a feelin id end up with a bluetick lol. Take it easy blue dog guys, theres good and bad in all of them. Man im tellin yall she is a straight possum hound now. Ive had pups and dogs that would pop a possum up every now and then but I quess it was just that they ran right up on them. Man she would start trailin and trail for a while and the run him barkin every breath for 150 or 200 yards on a couple of them five we killed. I never thought them rascals would run like that. I tell ya if she wernt stuck on them grinners she would make a hell of a coon hound. Got a nose with ice hangin off the end of it. At one time she started tappin on a tree alittle and I looked up in it and I looked at the boy with me and said if she slick trees a possum ima kill her and leave her down herelol. I dont ask much out of a possum dog but they atleast need to be accurate. Any on in eastern nc want some of them thined out let me no and well hit um up one night. Its was pretty fun. I wouldnt want to doit every night but its a stress releiver I quess lol.

P.S. David I sent five your way last night and ill shortly have sumore makin the trip lol. My loss is your gain I quess?
