Cast Member Not Shining The Tree ?

I know there is no rule that states that you have to shine the tree, but last night it caused a little trouble. 4 dog cast, 2 dogs treed on a rough looking tree, look the ten minutes, do not see a coon and call for a vote. One cast member(that's dog wasnt present on tree) never shined the tree at all. turned his light out. When it was called to a vote, without hesitation, he voted to minus the tree. Talk about sorry !!! Has anyone had this happen before to them. Is there anything a guy can do about it. Luckily this didnt effect the outcome.

I haven't had it happen and no, I don't think there is anything you can do about it.

It is true you cannot make them hunt for the coon however if you find a coon and they refuse to come over and look, that is refusing to score the tree and that IS scratchable. Page 49 of the Advisor.

Personally, I would rather someone just not shine than "pretend" to shine.

I always appreciate help and I look just as hard for others, but in the end its my job to find my coon.

I shine them all the same whether it hurts me or helps me.Not to say that I don't like to when its's gonna hurt me .It all goes back on sportsmanship and let's face it some just don't have it.I'm out to win when I pay my money just like everybody else but I always try to be a good sport win or loose and I'm not gonna try to keep someone from finding a coon their dog treed.I really like the ones who throw the big light up there when it comes time to shine!Glad it didn't change the outcome of the cast.

On a cast a couple months ago I was handling a dog for a friend.I had 75 and 125 on a tree. Two others backed her.As we get there mine comes comes off and I draw minus. They're up a huge white oak and we shine for right at 9 mins and I finally spot the coon. That wound up being the only coon seen on the cast and I lost.I was upset that my dog come off the tree but I did not hesitate to let'em know he was there. After telling my story to some they didn't hesitate to say you should have kept your mouth shut. But if I had then nobody would have won.

An old trick is to stand in the only spot you can see the coon and act like your shining the tree...

Only a fool assumes everyone is always going to be helpfull.....

i've seen way too many times!!!

whats worse is when you have a close split tree and the h.judge is shining his when he should be shining the others dogs tree, i was a spectator on this one and it was the guys friend and a young kid and an elderly gent . this guy is suppose to be a reputable hunter that did well at the world.... wonder if he reads this and remembers!?!?!?!?!??!?!?i believe if you dont look at the tree you cant vote!!!!!!!!!!

you can believe if you don't look you cant vote but. . . . . . . . . .YOUR WRONG, you don't have to look at a single tree but you can vote to plus or minus or circle every tree in the woods. . . . . . thats just the rules
