Wasn't a hunt , but we made 8 trees and seen 8 coon in an hour and a half. Two dens , and one tree with 3 in it , and 5 singles.
No feeders , but there is a running creek there , and in the winter with snow on.
But , we don't kill any coons out of there either.

RE: Coon Feeders

I know how blessed we are to have the coon population that we do. It's not unusual during hide season to release the dogs off a tree and having another one treed in less than 5 minutes. The record night since I've been hunting with my hubby was treeing 22 coon in one hunt. We must have been out there 2 or 3 hours, but with a couple dogs split treeing and the coon a-movin' .... It can happen around here. We call those spots our "honeyholes"

I scored 1075+ just last Friday night. And no feeders.

It's been real dry here. We were hitting them right on the small creeks in the bottoms of hollows.

Had 2 1st and 1st on circle trees too.

So I finally see how 1500+ can be scored.

I was on a cast with Elvis when him and Bellars Ajax came in with 1175 at our Walker Sectional a few years back. .
I was the guide on a youth cast at this years TWB&FA Youth Qualifier that came in with 1100 and got beat by 1125. None of these were on feeders.

scores

I once scored 1125+ and lost the cast. Another time i scored 1150+ and got a nt ch win out of it, Dogs were scratched for fighting early in the casts and both times the 2 dogs that were left in the cast kept split treeing and having coon.

well all i will say is do the math on how many coons it takes to get 1500 in 120 minutes and see how often you would have to score a coon and then deside if you think it could be done very often. if u get 1st and 1st it takes 7 coons to cross 1500. and to get 7 you would have to score a coon every 17 minutes. thats hard for any dog to do and ive been in the woods with some real winners of some big hunts. u have to strike, tree, get to your dog, AND find the coon every 17 MINUTES.
