Dog Food Prices.

I went to buy dog food today. I get Purina Dog Chow (55 Lb Bags) from Sam's Club. It went up $3.20 per bag in the last week, to $21.88 per bag.

At the beginning of the year it was $14.88 per bag.
It then went up to $16.88 per bag (up $2.00).
It then went up to $18.68 per bag (up $1.80).
Now it's $21.88 per bag (up $3.20).

In six months time, it's gone up by $7.00 per bag.

I'm assuming this latest price increase is due to corn prices rising.

If you buy off a dealer, and they haven't got the most recent price increases, you may want to stock up.

Bought it for $20.00 at Target today. Loaded up on their 50 pound bags they had left because now on it's 44 pounds but still 20.00.??!! Has anyone done the math to figure out what we are actually paying per bag if your in the pro club and get the $7.00 rebate checks. It takes more than 1 or 2 bags to get a $7.00 check, but I had not figured what were actually paying apiece.

All dog feeds will be going up again, if they have not done so already. Sure there are alot of crops underwater, but corn was high before the floods. You can thank your local congressman for pushing this Ethanol and bio-diesel crap. Dog food is getting hammered on all fronts, not only corn but biodiesel is also sucking up the poultry fat and beef tallow across the country also. Driving the price to record highs also. Not to mention what hi corn and soybean prices do to the meat and poultry prices.

CALL PURINA 1-800-778-7462

Resently I spoke to a purina rep. She said that the price increase and reduction in volume per bag is do to the rise in fuel and additional demand of corn and soy products. Not because of OSHA standards concering 50lb + bags, as I have heard. I made it clear that I dont enjoy getting raped with price increase an loss of product . Also that I may start buying another brand of dog food. ( But the other brands have also increased, so what are we going to do ?). Posting on a forum is a start, get on purinas ass and stay on it and take advantage of every coupon offer you can get. Get involved call em

SportMix went up again recently and I just bought 500 lbs from my dealer Saturday and he told me that he hopes to have the feed price down soon as they are going to trade show and buyinga large quanity.

It went up $3.00 a bag........He cuts me $1.50 off a bag for buying 500lbs.

I think it is mostly because of rising gas prices. The price of everything is going up because it costs so much for shipping. The price of ALL dogfood has or will go up almost $4.00, even those that don't contain corn or soy.....At least that is what my dogfood dealer told me, he deals quite a few brands of dogfood too....

i agree with calling them. since the prices have gone up and quantity has gone down i have let them know on several occassions that i think that they should give us more points per lb or more money in the rebate checks. not only do i call them but i also give my opinion to the purina rep who comes to my store. where you buy your feed ask who the rep is for that area and when they come in. it doesn't do any good to complain on here. complain to those who can make a difference.
btw i didn't get either of those things; more points or bigger checks but at least i got a fistfull of coupons. they help out.

I will trade any of you. I pay 35.16 for a 40# bag, and it is locally made, and over 5.00 a gallon for gas. Before you complain just think about people that have it a lot worst. lol.
