Dodged a bullet .......... (so far)
Email I received this morning from Corky Meyer (former president of the WI Wildlife Federation):
Hello Everyone:
Most of you are aware that we dodged a bullet yesterday when the Brown County Board was asked to vote on a outdoor dog control ordinance that had been introduced the previous month. The proposal was heavily influenced by the Humane Society of the United States. Among the provisions was that no dog could be tethered outside for more than one hour. We found out about it only after a sportsman read about it yesterday about 9 am Dick Baudhuin went out of his way to attend the meeting on behalf of the Federation and gave our testimony. Here is the article from today's Green Bay Press Gazette. If it had not been because of some real hustle by the Federation and the Bearhunters this ordinance would have gone through.
Dick indicated that there were a number of supporters there including a veterinarian.
We were successful in getting it sent back to the Public Safety Committee which will meet on July 2nd at 5 pm. We need to coordinate and have a good representation at the hearing, I will send along the ordinance hard copy to you all tomorrow. I am not sending it along electronically since it is part of and 89 page county board agenda and I can not sort it out.
Once again, thank you to Dick Baudhuin for dropping everything and representing our interests.
I will get the materials to everyone and then coordinate with Ralph, Dick, Ron Vanderloop and Bob Welch to get groups on the same page and in attendance at the July 2nd meeting.
Thank you, George

The support of all houndmen/women is needed. If you are able to attend the Public Safety Meeting on July 2nd, please do so. We need to be well represented.
