I am wondering if anyone can tell me how to read a DNA profile?

I can help you with the english part. all those double letters and colored lines will present a problem..lol never figured out why they print them in chinese on english barking dogs....

I am wondering what it is you are expecting out of the DNA profile.

There is nothing to read....it is merely proof the the dog that was profiled is out of the dogs that the registration papers say, and then it's only proof if both the sire and dam are DNA profiled......

If it's not DNA VIP....its a bunch of letters that are assigned to different DNA markers...no hocus pocus, no fortune cookie.

So what happens if the profile comes back from a dog that BOTH supposed Sire and Dam were profiled and they do NOT match???

If that happens then there is a good chance there was some hocus pocus going on with the registering of the litter, but it could also be a contaminated sample.

If I am not mistaken, papers are pulled on the dogs from the litter in question -- and someone's name will be added to the Barred/Suspended page of Bloodlines. That is if it does turn out that the DNA does not match.

No one knows for sure what those markers mark,other than proving the sire and dam of the pup.

That's what I was thinkin, but wasn't sure. Wonder how much this is happening?
