Hello Jason. I belive there is a difference, some dogs go crazy when they get a nose full of training scent and others act like it's not there and trail past it. When live trapping is scarce and can't shoot one out a somewhat fresh road kill used as a drag and treeing gets them cranked up. (That seems to work for my hounds.) Hope this helps you. Good Luck
