raising a litter of pups

how tough of a job is it for a first timer? do you need somewhere there that knows what they are doing at birthing? what is the cost involved in raising the pups to the age of being sold and how far back does it set your female back? and how tough is it to get rid of the pups if its from good bloodlines if you are very reasonable on price

its all a matter of timing, luck, etc. you could have the best blood around and if no one is buying then you have a litter of pups. jmo

no pups yet axe, just thinking down the road

took the young female out last night and she put one up the tree by herself, she still needs work, but i think after a good kill season with her i could make a nite champion out of her if she continues to improve. i dont think she is grand nite potential but i would be really pleased if i could make her a nt ch and ifso i would like to raise some pups out of her. probally getting ahead of myself but just getting an idea of what all it entails

It takes up alot of your time tending to them,it wouldn't hurt to have a vet's emergency number or someone around that's raised pups before, cost wise,it depends on how long you have to keep them before they're sold.Alot of people just give them their first shots and try to get rid of them before anymore shots are due.I have heard that some dogs are never quite the same after having pups,if it's a winner, you may want to wait a couple of years later down the road.

Hey Rance I sent you message but I'm pretty sure it was you I hunted with this past weekend. I had a good hunt and enjoyed the company. Hope you guys had a safe drive home and looking forward to seeing you guys again down in south Ga this fall. Take care, Chad

PS just enjoy your hound for a while and let these more experienced folks raise some pups. You will have plenty of time for that later on down the road. Especially if that girlfriend is still trying to get you to tie the Knot.

man, its tough to fly under the radar with the name rance j/k

chad, yea it was me. we made it back safely and glad to see you did too. man i had a great time at my first hunt. with alittle luck(being able to find that last coon) your dot dog would have been queen of the hunt with the cast win. she did a good job over both nites. like i told ya, i really liked her. i really appreciated yall understanding i was learning the ropes as far as competition hunting goes. like with everything, i try to do everythiung at once. man after being gone again this past weekend and going last night, im lucky to get her even to talk to me. tell keith i said hey when you speak to him and any time you head this way yall always got a place to hunt and stay, that is if you take it a little easier next time on us georgia boys and our dogs. really though, there is some really nice bluedogs in this area and yall would enjoy hunting with them, too bad none of them are mine. well im going to read your pm and get back with ya.

take care
rance
