Help Bottle feeding pups

What is the best to feed pups? I was thinking of baby sisilac but not sure.

I have a new litter of 10 pups and was going to bottle feed to kinda help my female a little. Plus their is one in paticular that i have not seen eat and have not been able to get her on a tit.

Any help is greatly apreciated.

Check with Christy. I know she has bottle fed a litter and had pretty good luck.

You can use either Esbilac or Similac baby formula (the liquid in a can, but don't dilute it), or find someone around you that has goats, and get some fresh goats milk.

Puppies

I agree on the goat milk. I have supplemented puppies with the goat milk. If you don't have any goat farmers nearby you can get it at the grocery stores in a can. It is condensed so you have to add a can of water to it but it works just as good. Makes for fat healthy puppies and helps mom out especially with a big litter!

Canned Milk

I have successfully (many times) used canned Evaporated milk diluted 50-50 with water. Goat milk is excellent if you can find it and afford it. But I've had excellent results with canned evaporated milk. I have used human baby bottles that are for premature babies when the pet bottles weren't available. Sometimes you need to use an eyedropper to get the attention of new pups because they aren't attracted to the bottle's nipple. Just be careful not to put too much in the pup's mouth until it responds by swallowing and wanting more.

You may want to try dividing the litter and allow 1/2 the litter to nurse untill full then remove the female for 45 min. then allow the the other half nurse untill full.. This will help the Female alot.. I make alot of "Milk Shakes" for the Bitch .. 5 eggs in a blender 1-1/2 cups of whole milk and 1 cup of water .. I also add 2 table spoons of Corn Surup "gives the bitch some extra energy to produce the extra milk"..

I would not try to feed the pups extra some time you can cause Scours which will really screw things up.. If the ten are still a burden well last resort is to cull a few .. The last thing you want is to deprive the strong healthy pups just to keep the whole litter..

I know its hard but its just part of being a breeder..

And theirs chances of Mastitus if the mother is over nursed .. Wash her nipples durring her time outs and clean all welping bedding

We had 10 also.. 1 week old now

bottle feeding

I used Esbilac with success, you can get the powdered can at fleet farm and mix with warm water. Just be careful not to over feed.

my female had 12 pups on christmas eve last year and did a good job raisin all twelve succesfully. i gave her 6 eggs, 2 cups of milk and half a loaf of bread every morning and then on top of that every evening i would give her a big container of cottage cheese. all this along with her daily ration of black gold in the black bag and she raised all 12 with no trouble. this is what i did and i hope it helps. plus she is just a dang good mama when it comes to raisin pups. good luck.
