Gas prices/ Kid rides horse to school.

Saw on our local news yesterday, a young man couldnt afford the gas to drive to school so he rode his horse .

Principal said that the student was on time and that they will allow him to ride his horse to school and " it requires no special parking permit".

I will say I have to commend the school here.
I know if I had a horse agian i wouldnt hesitate.

I tried to find the story on our local news site but couldnt.

LOL! That is awesome...glad the school is gonna let him do it. I am a school teacher at a rural school and I doubt they'd let a kid do that here as country as our school is. I'm lucky enough that if it wasn't for dropping my kids off at the sitter's house I could walk to work.

There is a grade 1-8 school out on county road 38 with about 35 pupils and everyone of them gets there by bicycle or pony cart.

When I was 12 or 13 there was a barn on the property behind the school I went to. The owner let me put my mare in there while I was in school on days when I rode her.

I only rode her once in awhile though. I had 2 younger sisters and a younger brother so most of the time we just all walked togather or rode the bus if the weather was bad.

We almost always walked home because it was a mile by foot or 3 hours or more by bus. I cant hardly get my kids to walk 3 blocks to school. LOL

You know its real sad the gas price and all. Really too bad we all don't just stop buying gas even if its for our sport of hunting. Would have to be done everywhere. I know I have slowed down already. Have to work and I drive 20 miles a day.

I sure don't have the answer but surely something can be done.

$3.55 here a gallon.
