The reason for that is just as you imply, you buy a dog and there is a hunt coming up that you wish to attend and don't have turn around time for papers. But once you send them in, you're kinda in limbo until you get them back. Sorry, don't shoot the piano player.
Todd,
No shots fired, gun isn't even loaded....it's not kill season...
I would just like to understand WHY this is still this way..... I mean come on, I can understand when in the days gone by and everything was hand recorded, and the registration papers were filled out on a typewriter...I can see that it would make record keeping a bit of a hassle....
But in today's world, I'm pretty sure that registrations are tracked in a database, on a computer....and the dog's registration number is the primary key in the database. Given that manual or hand tracking is cut to a minimum, and it wasn't all that long ago that UKC changed the rule on changing a dogs name....that this policy is a bit out of date.
Has any thought been put towards changing the way this is done? I mean, if you are tracking dogs according to a registration number, and a fellow shows up at the entry table with a photocopy of the registration form that is filled out, bill of sale signed, and is in processing at UKC...where is the difficulty?
Don't shoot the guy asking the questions, he's just trying to understand.....
