Whats the best line of Bluetick.

Thinking about changing from Walker to Bluetick. What would be my best chance of getting a natural.

natural

If a fella knew that, I'd have 4 of 'em runnin round here, and would sell ya one...........I dont think it has much to do with what line of blue dog as it does that you buy a pup from coon dog bred to coon dog.......proven cross would be hard to go wrong on. Hunt / hunt / hunt.............JMO

"BEST"

Is perceived differently by all of us. Sure there will be some hand ya some of the 'ol"NUTTIN BETTER THAN" stuff but there are good one's in all of them.Lot of time's it's a matter of personal preference & availability.

One thing I have learned through the year's is to stay away from the one's that claim to have "THE BEST" & pride themselve's on slappin their own back's continuously & respect the one's that let the dog's do the talkin.

There are good one's all over the country & I wish you luck gettin the one that float's your boat & not everyone else's...

I wish you good luck. Good ones are usually not for sale. They are hard to find and even harder to keep healthy and out of harms way. I beleave Two Toes has been at least partially responsible if not a lot more than that for some top notch hounds that consistantly win with coons in the tree. I have had Jet dogs mostly and a couple Utchman dogs. They are more readily availible here and I would have to lean towards the Jet side. Maybe a mix of the two would do well.

i think theres far to many lines out there to call one "best" i would say check into the bigger name lines, hornet, rambo, smokey river, jet. Iv been told smokey river crosses real nice on hornet, if that helps you at all. Good luck in your search.

I have to agree with most of the above post............"the best" will differ from person to person just because what "I" THINK is the best you might not like.........People like different traits in dogs just like signi***ant others................. lol

I have heard good things about Jet and Utchman. You know Walkeres have the big mouths. Is thier a certain line that throws a bigger mouth with track and tree ability.

It would depend on what your looking for. Competition or pleasure. Whether you hunt in thin coons or thick coons. Feeder buckets or natural woods. Whether you normally hunt with other dogs or just hunt one dog mostly. etc. etc.

Know what you want in a hound, do your homework and ask alot of questions! You'll then find a line of hounds to get in with!

I do not beleive that having one dog create's a line. Personally I respect the breeder's that have generation's of good hound's & really respect the one's that "Raise" their own aposed to buyin them then slappin themselve's on the back when the twinkie feeder's & payed guide's come to fruitation.

If you look around you'll see a bunch that claim to be all that but the trouble is alot of them havn't even had a second generation but their not afraid to carry on till the cow's come home.

Again,I know you'll find what make's "YOU" happy & that's where it's at as far as I'm concerned.

I think different voices carry further then others. I.E at a tree one dog might completely drown another out. Walk back a mile and listen and that other dog may be the only thing you hear. Seems like the high pitched ones carry a lot further. Also super low pitched dogs always sound a lot deeper than they really are..

You can get a good one or a not-so-good one from any line.

If you stick with the reputable breeders promoting any of the well-established lines, you are probably going to be all right.

If I knew more about your individual preferences, and the traits that are highest priority for you, I could tell you more.

I like Uchtman bred dogs personally because I have gotten fewer culls out of this line, and I don't think there is a line of Blue dogs out there that will consistently throw a louder mouth. They are also dogs with good noses and a lot of tracking ability, and tend to be accurate.

If you like a closer hunting dog, they won't suit you, as they have a lot of go. They will also take a bad track. If you like more of a pop up type dog that won't mess with a rough coon, they won't suit you.

Hope that helps.

I have always hunted Hammer bred dogs, because they suit me. Things I like about them are they are good cold nosed run a bad track and get treed with the meat type dogs. They normally throw a big long locate and are hard treedogs. Right now I've got a Jet/Hammer bred male thats only 19 m/o thats impressing me. Takes his tracks as they come, but if need be he'll bust in there 2 miles to get hooked. Super accurate stay put treedog. I'm not saying Hammer or Jet are the best, but out of all the lines I've seen go I prefer them. Seems like Jet bred dogs have a lot of hunt in them which I like. This male has Jet 5, 5 times in 5 generations. Hope this helps.
