Ivermectin and Permethrine!

Give them the recommended dosage of Ivermectin orally everyday for a week. Bath them in permethrine every other day for 2 weeks. Mange is the same thing as scabies. Make sure to wash everything in their pens with bleach then spray with permethrine. It is a hard thing to get rid of. If 3 pups have it, and you have more dogs then the others will have it before all is said and done.

There are two kinds of mange.
Sarcoptic mange is the one that is like scabies, and can be treated with sulphur products - burnt motor oil is high in sulfur, and that's why it works. It is highly contagious, but very easy to treat.
Demodectic mange is most common in littermate puppies, not contagious, much harder to treat, and the tendency to get it is inherited. The demodex mite normally lives on the dog, but a failure of the dog's immune system lets them get all out of control. It can be treated with high doses of ivermectin - up to 1 cc orally daily (in a 4 mth old hound puppy), but start lower, and take up to 4 or 5 days to work up to a dose that high, and continue for 45 - 60 days. It can also be helpful to go to a health food store and get a supplement designed to boost the immune system.
A few small spots of demodectice mange don't need to be treated, they will resolve on their own, and some severe cases cannot sucessfully be treated, but generally, if the spots involve more than 10% of the body, I would start treatment.
It is an inherited problem, a female that produces mange puppies should be spayed, and female puppies that have mange should not be bred.
If you're not sure which type of mange the puppies have, take one to a vet for a skin scraping and make sure.
Laurie

use ivomec

but your best bet would be to spend the money and go to the vet get a skin scrape and find out exactly what kind of mange it is
and the best way to treat it. cause most of these hillbilly remidies
work but they cause other problems along with the cure. i have a fiest pup that had mange it cost about 30.00 total to get her back to normal if you cant aford that you shouldn't have dogs anyway.

I would Not use this method at all. I know old timers includeing my grandfather used oil for evey thing and many still do ,but its just not safe.
In older times, some 30 years ago, dipping dogs with demodectic mange in motor oil was a popular home remedy. Skin exposure to motor oil can cause rashes and skin destruction in severe cases. The hydrocarbons can be absorbed through the skin and cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. If motor oil is licked off the coat, resultant vomiting can lead to aspiration of motor oil into the lungs and pneumonia. Kidney and liver damage can result from motor oil dipping.

if they have the red mange . get mitea ban. if the pups start getting pus bums on the them . you better hurry and use mightaban . that kind of mange will kill them. and it comes from the mother side. so go to the vet wright away and get a shin scrapeing . before your other dogs get it. they this kind of mange other dogs cant get it .but i know they can. cause ive had this problem before . i just shot the pups and got rid of the mom. cause she will reproduce pups like this all the time.

Ivomec or Ivermectin

Will not hurt pups. I have been raising dogs for 20 plus years. Never lost a pup. All dogs have always been wormed monthly with Ivermectin from birth. Mr. Shaw your vet is just getting in your wallet. Also, Happy Jack for tapes.

Paramite and Amitraz

I had young puppies that got scabies and I used Paramite and cleared them up in about a week. It is a dip diluted with water and was inexpensive at the time, but this has been several years back. Also bought a dog one time sight unseen that had the start of mange, took him to the vet to be sure, he said it was and suggested using any product that contained Amitraz. The only thing available was the Preventic collar. Put that on him for about three months, accompanied by a change in food and stress level and all signs have been totally gone for four years.

I treated a pup 3 months for red mange. Its a mange you can get under control, sometimes! But its in the genes and shouldn't be bred again. I spent $300 and the dog was hairless. I had her put down.
The hole litter where I got her from had it I believe. It will stay on your ground too I think. No expert here either. Just what I have been told by vets and first hand experiance.
