Long names?

I'm new to the UKC. I recently purchased a UKC registered Pit bull pup. I was wondering why some registered dogs gave such long name? For example, CH 'PR' BOBER'S MIGHTY SAMPSON.

The CH and "PR" are both UKC designations. CH stands for conformation Champion and PR stands for Purple Ribbon Bred. Owners may use 30 letters and spaces for t heir dogs name. UKC designations are in addition to that number.
