why

If this breeding means something to you, then why on earth would you run a female on the night before she is to whelp? Seems to me that if you planed this mating and you are wanting the pups why take a chance on the female getting run over or hurt in the woods. A few weeks without hunting has never hurt our females. But this is jmo. Don't mean to make anyone mad.

Well several reasons.

1- she was the only thing we had that could tree a coon.

2- she was'nt near due, for another week and a half.

3- she did'nt act like she was gonna have em.

4- I'd rather have a bitch in good shape.

5- I like to hunt and so do my dogs.

I aint mad or nothing, just saying it never hurt any of mine. If they act uncomfortable or dont want to hunt then I wont hunt em.

Dogs are smarter than people when it comes to things like having youngins. jmo

Dogs can and have ran pups out of themselves ... I know folks have done it and dogs running loose will hunt right into labor , But .... a dog's hunting desire is too much for it's own good thanks to us , they will climb trees only to fall to their death after a coon ... follow a coon into the road and get hit , drown trying to swim the Mississippi after coon .. etc...

I hunt them about the same til I see the pups drop and/or her tits making milk ... the milk seldom lies , if ever.

When it gets that close , I think it's time for us to step in and be the brains of the outfit and not leave it up to the dog ... they can't even add 2 plus 2 .
