Bench show people

Just curious when everyone starts working with their hounds on the bench

Started working with my girl when she was about 3 months old. Just real short sessions though. Kinda just let her have fun and tell her what a pretty girl she is!!!!! Jessica

Jessica, that's a NICE looking female!

We start messing with ours about 6 wks or so, not setting up but just putting them on the bench and petting them. Around 10-12 wks start working on the standing part. Just seems to help keep them from being afraid and shaking like some do. It's impossible to get perfection at that age, they still don't seem to "get" it until there 6 mos. or older. Maybe we just have hard headed dogs though!

We put our dogs on the bench as soon as rhey are able to stand without falling down.

We start out by teaching them to just stand still and then we worry about standing proper.
