Coonhound Paralysis

I have a 4yr old dog just went down on 6 Nov 07. Called the vet and told him the situation. I was told that with him being exposed to a coon on 2 different times in the last 2 weeks its what I had thought. I was wondering if any new treatments have evolved for this affliction?

coon hound paralysis

I had a dog a few years ago that became paralyzed for no reason. I took her to the vet and he put her on a high dose of steroids. she was on them for a few weeks and became fine. She lived to be 16 years old.

Coonhound Paralysis

We had a pup that got this 2 years ago. We spent alot money on him and he lived. Super nice pup nut had lost his sence of smell but now has got it back and made NTCH. We called and talked to Mr. John Wick who has had 2 dogs with this and he said that the only thing you can do is wait it out. Don't ever let them give up. If they stop eating give them whatever. We fed Tuna, Potted Meat, Fried Eggs annthing you can get them to eat. Steve Yant's mother even cooked Pork Steak for him. He losted a lot of weight and gave up alot on us but we kept him going. He was on alot of meds which a Vet. at the UN of Mo. said there was nothing for him. and also alot of Pred. Hope this helps and good luck you have a long road but it is worth every penny we spent.

I had a hunting buddy's dog come down with it 10 years ago. He got is moblity back on the frontend first and the vet made him a "wheelchair" for the back legs and he rolled around in the vet office for a month.... The dog eventually made a full recovery.
