I wasn't told
I didn't get the word about this until yesterday when another buddy of mine stopped by to shoot the bull about our hounds.
Harold was a friend of mine and some of my first coonhunts some 25-30 years ago years ago involved Harold ,as my father in law was a coonhunter and there were a few of the old timers that are gone now that he hunted with and Harold was one of them . Them guys got me started. I remember one time Harold , Garland Sipes, and myself were hunting out of a boat down on Rough River . A huge thunderstorm started moving in out of the west and lightening was lighting up the sky like I'd never seen before . The wind started picking up and the lightening was getting closer and Garland was begging Harold to turn the boat around and head in . Harold was being his typical stubborn self and said " Boys ,the safest place we can be in this lightening is right here in this boat ." (we were right out in the middle of the lake) Garland cussed him like a sailor and we finally convinced him to turn around when the rain started pelting down and man I was sure glad to get to shore and get that boat loaded and get back in the truck .
I truly wish I had known about this earlier as I have made plans to go out of town that day . I hope you guys can get the word out and have a good turn out for Harolds wife . I know she'll appreciate all you can do .
I'll try to contact a few people in Meade Co. and let them know.
