The Henderson County Commissioners have delayed hearing the MSN (Mandatory Spay and Neuter Program) issue until the September 19th, 2007 meeting the bad thing about this is it is at 9:00am in the morning instead of a 5:30 pm meeting.


PLEASE We will still need everyone that can make it to be in attendance for this meeting.

I have a feeling the delay has come from the response that they have received from the many individuals and organizations that have sent in letters and emails about this. We have learned that the proposal has been given to the Commissioners so they do know what and how the proposal reads.

We are continuing to monitor the Agenda for next Tuesday night just in case it shows up on the agenda. The Assistant County Manager has confirmed that the MSN has been postponed.

Thanks to everyone for the efforts put forth, however we can not stop now. We have to keep the preasure on.

that's the problem with these things. they will reschedule when they think no one will show and get it passed. If it happens you guys there need to remember who voted for it and dont re-elect them.

it may be worth taking a few hrs off work just to show them. hope it works in our favor. keep us informed Lisa.

Hopefully at least 20-30 people will show up. If they do, then it more than likely will not pass. Need to find out who is pushing this issue (a person or HSUS). then find out why. if its a money issue for HSUS then you can find out how much the director makes and make that an issue back to the board.

A similar issue came up in SC and a lot of people showed up. the HSUS was wanting more money and it was thrown back up at the board how much the director made. also there a commisioners wife worked at the Humane society and it was dropped like a hot potatoe.

Oh I will most definately be there ..... would not miss this one.

We should still have a really great turnout. Everyone I have talked to will still be there. This has turned into a pretty big deal around here.

It is coming from the commissioners Strategic Plan and the proposal was written by the counties code enforcement officer.

Do not think they knew what they bit off with this one.

Henderson County NC - MSN pulled from meeting agenda
We have just received word from Selena Coffey, assistant county manager, that the proposed animal ordinance with mandatory spay/neuter and breeder permit requirements has been *removed* from the September 19th public meeting.

Ms. Coffey states “I do not feel that a mandatory spay-neuter program and the breeder licensing requirements are practical for the County at this juncture.”

Comments from interested parties are welcome as the County continues to discuss plans for a spay-neuter program more suitable for the County. Ms. Coffey has instructed the Animal Services Advisory Committee to develop an alternate plan for consideration by the County Commissioners at their November 5th meeting.
