Open to any suggestions

Boy, I am in a spot now. I had the battery go in one of my wildlife collars. I got new batteries, and went to change the bad battery.

The problem is I can't unscrew the top to the battery compartment. I don't have a clue how it got so tight. I usually just use a nickel with my hand to tighten them. So far, I have tried lockease, penetrating oil, nickel, quarter, large washers, and a screw driver. I can't get the darn thing loosened! I even tried placing it in the freezer for 10 minutes.

Does any one have any tricks that they have used? Thanks for your help.

Where'd you go to school? It's gonna take longer than 10 minutes for the cold to do any good ! LOL
Leave it in there overnight.

If you don't want to try that , have someone else hold the collar ( or clamp gently in a vise ) , and then , ( now listen close ) hold the coin with a pair of vise-grips. While pushing down and turning , tap on the coin with a hammer. It might be enough to vibrate it loose.

Yep, I did the thing with the coin and vise grips. Then my wife told me I shouldn't deface money. I bent the dickens out of a quarter and a nickel.

$40.00!!!!!! That is a third of the cost of a collar for something that shouldn't happen in the first place.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Bruce!!!!!!

It sounds as if it may be cross threaded, Id recomend sending it in the the manufacturer, to avoid further damage.

send it to them and have them call before they put any money into it,40 dollars is'nt that much compared to destroying it yourself and not being able to use it at all.there are two small wires in the bottom of the case that go to the antena, break those off then you'll send it in.......
