Training a coonhound???

I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to train a coonhound how to track/hunt just to compete in events with her. I am not a hunter but i think that she would enjoy doing it she is an 8 month old black and tan and she appears to have a good nose. Any advice????

You mentioned that you're not a hunter. The most popular coonhound events are actual coonhunts (nitehunts). UKC does sanction field trials and swim races. These are more like simulated hunting and the conditions are much more controlled. Is this what you're maybe thinking about?
