garmin astro

When it works its awsome. I have not tried the car top antenna but have had the unit lose signal within about 200 yard in a cornfield. If you hang it low on a fence and stay on flat ground range is about 1.5 miles. The biggest Problem i have is keeping The collar Straight on the back of the neck. I use a tritroncs classic 70 and i think i need to figure out a heavier counterweight.I don't care for the vest at all. The night in the corn field the collar did get knocked off center on the dogs neck.I wish they could mount the unit on the bottom and run two ant.s up if need be. The collar never seems to lose satelites when upside down but goes very hard on the signal. Ask about anything Im forgetting. As of right now I wouldn't run it on most hounds without a regular tracking system. But i also already owned one.

thanks for the info. I think garmin is on the right track with this but like most new things it will take a while and a few customer complaints to get it perfected.
