Virginia hunters please call 1-800-889-0229 during regular business hours and let them know you oppose House Bill 2531. if this bill passes you will not be able to go retreive your dog unless you have permission to do. this goes for any type of hunting, coon, bear, rabbit, deer, bird, etc. lets show we care, call and let them know

I called and opposed. Just for anyones info who may call, it will take about 3-5 minutes before someone answers so dont give up.
It is very important that we stop this bill from passing. It is time to speak up and let them know how you feel.

§ 18.2-136. Right of certain hunters to go on lands of another; carrying firearms or bows and arrows prohibited.

Fox hunters and coon hunters, when the chase begins on other lands, may follow their dogs on prohibited lands, and hunters of all other game, when the chase begins on other lands, may go upon prohibited lands to retrieve their dogs, but may not carry firearms or bows and arrows on their persons or hunt any game while thereon. The use of vehicles to retrieve dogs on prohibited lands shall be allowed only with the permission of the landowner or his agent.

I had a buddy of mine also say that they were trying to pass a bill where all dogs were to be fixed to not reproduce???? What is this all about??? Last I checked we lived in what is supposed to be a free country. People please wake up they are trying to take our freedoms away from us. I will call tommorow thanks for posting this information. We as hunters and dog people are going to have to unite wether you run coon,bear rabbits or whatever, because that is what it's going to take in the future.

I called....took about 2 minutes. That was it. Also had my parents and grandparents call and oppose it. They had no trouble getting through.

We need to get behind this.

Imagine thousands of hours and dollars a hundred yards behind a posted sign and nothing you can do about it.

Think about this folks.

Dear VHDOA Supporters,

Ten bad animal bills were "Tabled," or otherwise defeated, in two House subcommittees today. These included

HB 1959 Dogs and cats; increase of license fee.
HB 2081 Cruelty to animals; Class 6 felony for any person to willfully & unnecessarily cause death thereof.
HB 2098 Tethering of animals; certain acts associated therewith Class 3 misdemeanor.
HB 2100 Cats and dogs; license fee on those who have not been spayed or neutered.
HB 2242 Dogs; Class 3 misdemeanor to tether, fasten, etc. to stationary object.
HB 3091 Companion animals; exempts occasional breeder, etc. from being treated as dealer.
HB 3147 Cats and dogs; evidence by owner of inoculation or vaccination of rabies.
HB 3195 Companion animal dealer permits
HJ 567 SOL; Department of Education to include standards regarding instruction on animal safety, etc..
HB 2631 Abolishes the right of hunters to trespass for the purpose of retrieving hunting dogs.

HB 2295 Rabies vaccinations; surcharge thereon, was reported without recommendation
