Put this in your pipe and smoke it.
I have been beat after a hunt was over before. Yep its true, and heres how it happened.
Fact is this hunt happened about 15 years ago. So I dont remember the exacts on stuff but I still know the round abouts.
OK last drop Im up by 75 maybe a 100 with less than 10 mins to go. It takes a couple mins after we cut them for a dog to open. Its a guy that is some 200 behind so Im sitting pretty, lets call him dog A. Next two dogs open at the same time but one handler is quicker on the call. So dog A is in for 100, dog B for 75, and dog C for 50. Im dog D and I havent heard a peep.
With only a min or so left. A friggin airplane comes over, man that sucker is loud. You ever been out on a cold night and a certain type of jet comes over? Seems like you can hear them for 10 mins. Well this was one of those jets.
Im counting the last 45secs down and at 20 secs or so dog B's handler trees him. I cant hear sh!t for that d*mn jet so I tell him he cant hear his dog. The guy points in the direction that the dogs were last heard and says my dog is treed down that creek bottom.
I ask if anyone else can hear this dog. One guy was with me and says he cant hear sh!t but the other guy said he thought he did hear a locate.
Well I figure alright smart azz your just trying to pull a rabbit our of you butt so I put him on the card. Now mind you you can still hear this Jet. The handler for dog B says well the hunt is over we may as well head that way.
I tell him I agree but first I want to start the 2 mins on him. I start the time and we head down this bottom. Truth is as soon as the jet noise was gone we heard dogs. Man they were blowing the friggin top out of this tree. Dog A was by far the loudest dog, and man he was there. I asked the handler of dog A if he heard his dog.
Nope was his answer.
I know same as everyone on this board knows what happened. The handler for dog B figure what the heck. Im beat if I dont do something. So he treed his dog before the hunt ran out, while the roar of the jet covered his butt.
Now it was over a min AFTER the hunt was over before we heard these dogs. So you could say I was doing my best to wipeout what this guy had done, but to no avail. So that you see, is how you get beat after a hunt is over.
In noway do I hate the player, but man from time to time I do hate the game.
This is very much a true story. Since then I have became pretty good friends with the guy that won. I can give you his number.
