I do hunt with other dogs, (plotts, english and currs) but not necessarily because i need a strike dog. I have only had jagds for a couple of years now. They aren't quite up to snuff with some of my older hounds yet. I have hunted with a friend of mines jagds (Scott ALs at dixielandjagdterriers.com) His dogs can and will do it all from start to finish. Them hogs like the thick stuff (thicker the better) when it's really thick the jagds really excel. I like the bigger jagds though. i have a male and a female that are close to 30 pounds each and these bigger longer legged jagds seem to be more suited for hogs than the littler ones. although i do have a little female that is about 18 ponuds that is by far the roughest thing i own. she's not a real good bay dog, and not a real good catch dog either though. Only because a 50 pound hog can pick her up and run off with her hanging from his ear. She is exciting to say the least. One thing i have noticed and i am continuously impressed with these jagds, is their drive. They are flat out go hunting dogs with excellent noses and unbelieveable hearts.
