why does this board automaticly log me out after a short time. if i minimize the screen when i pull it back up i have to log in all the time. is there a setting a can change to keep me logged in longer?

Your login is stored in your browser cookies. If you run a broswer/spyware cleaner it may be cleaning out your login cookie.
I run one and I have it set not to clean out the cookies of forums I visit.

Try clearing out both your browser cookies and browser cache and then relog back in and see.

Also go to your browser security settings and make sure you have it checked to Automatic login only in intranet zone.
