well, there's several reasons..
a dog is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.
if ur gonna invest alot of money, u sure don't wanna invest in a puppy that's young and fragile and might not turn out.
and i'm selling a litter of pups now for $100 each...are they worth more? yes...could i get more? yes....why am i selling cheaper? because i'm like someone else said, a poor backwoods coonhunter...with a price like that just about anyone can afford to get a good bloodline dog. but "MY" reason for selling cheaper, is because i am poor, and anyone that raises hound pups know that when they pups are weened, the feed bill goes UP!!! price low, sell faster...i'd rather sell cheaper than to have pups stay here and possibly get malnurished because they are eating more than i can afford to buy...are they malnurished? no...but there's no way i could keep a full litter of hound pups to a year old..i got 4 dogs including the pup i'm keeping, and that's all i want or need...
so are pups being under priced? probably...but in the long run, which is worth more, the pup's health, or some green paper (money)??? if u pay alot for a young pup, and it dies or don't turn out, u've lost both...
honestly, underpriced? not really, people who love the sport is not in it for money anyway. their just trying to cover some expenses...and still pay out more than comes in...
it's all how ya look at it i guess...
