We as Coon hunters are blessed
You know, no where else in the world can another person do what we do as Americans, Last night I was spectating on my wifes cast and as they cut three dogs down in a creek bottom I stayed up at the truck to drive around and pick them up on the other side....while listening to those hounds work out a track with the three different bawls and then hearing the locates switching over to chops and short bawls it really put me to thinking. Standing there in the light of a full moon with just a few clouds passing by was beauty to behold and I thanked God for what he has given us.
Tonite Barb, my granddaughter Ciara and myself took my Jake dog [ that Ciara claims ] and Barbs Sam dog, we cut loose down the side of a small lake and while waiting for them I watched the moon come up over the tree tops, again it was something special, my wife and my granddaughter both whom I love so much enjoying a sport that we all love and can do together as a family, then in the distance hearing Sam and Jake roll up on a tree, driving around we drove to within a few feet of the tree and got a good surprise Sam was treed 30 feet from Jake and they both had a coon, this was Sam 1st split tree so he got what he worked for and we called it a nite as I have to be at work at 4 am.
Just had to say what I was feeling, I just wish that the love of money and winning wouldn`t ruin this sport like it has for so many hunters.
