The same as the below thread. Petersburg's about 40 miles from me. Your going to be probably hunting the same way you did in North Ga with thin coon.

http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthrea...;threadid=97579

Any cast that wants a chance to win the World Hunt this year will probably not be casting south of Springfield, TN during the World Hunt.

The southern you go, the less coon you will be in.

I am not far from Petersburg. We have some nice places in Giles County. You are welcome to hunt with us anytime. Very thin coon. Usually hunt 3-4 hours night, tree 1 a night.

Buckshot, Your right.I would not want to cast south of Springfield.
It will turn out some low scores.

Ken

I have a friend up that way

He had some dogs from my lines. I would not wish the type of hunting he has on anyone. It is straight up and straight down. The coon are very, very thin. The highway that runs through the mountains up there is the worst thing. Those semis will run over you.

Look at it this way, it will separate the dogs that are lazy and the ones that won't give up. I know most coons here smart too. A guy I've hunted with told me he hod one that bested every dog he turned loose on it. Either den, hollow tree, or creek. He said you could hear the dogs running back and forth between hollows for about and hour and he would get away or the dogs ran out of steam. That coon didn't last too long as a ghost, he finally caught it in a single tree in a field about three weeks later.

Guys, Im telling you from experience, some of the best hunting in the state is in Springfield, Tennessee, good coon population there, lots of water to hunt on without getting in slews or on the river, although some casts will probably be hunting on the river . As for the terrain, welllllllllllllllllllll, we do have alot of hills and hollers here, so get in shape. lol

Yea, there is some good hunting in Springfield, Tennessee. Your right there on the KY-TN line. Start moving south from Springfield and the scores will go south too. LOL

Ken, when did you move up to TN from Athens? You still at Madison RV?

I live about 5 miles from the square in Petersburg. The hunting is good in places not so good in other places. We have a ton of hunters around here.

Buckshot, I am only about 15 minutes from Athens. I bought a small farm where I grew up. I still have my house down there. I am still at Madison RV, just a little longer ride to work. I have a little honey hole up here that hasn't been hunted in a few years. Should be some fun this season. You will have to come up.

Guys, the hunting is pretty rough down here in areas. Some nights are better than others and some places better than others. You better have a coondog here. You better have one that will hustle and get in there. If you want to find out what you are leading, bring them here. That is if you got something that can hang with these blue dogs......LOL

Ken
