Sometimes you're just thankful
Last night I took my Lefty dog [only dog I have] out and he made 4 trees and saw three coon, the other was a den. I would change several things about him but he trees coon. I'm 76 and eyes, hearing and walking are not what they used to be but I am blessed to have a dog that hunts hard but handles well. Don't have to use a leash anywhere unless I want to. Had him since he was 8 weeks old. He's 4 and most likely will last as long as I do. Lefty wouldn't be the best competition dog but he's exactly what I need. I realize good dogs are not easy to find. I thank the Lord that he blessed me with this dog.

this is true for me! my dogs might not win a bunch of hunts, but they hunt hard and listen well. they don't go through the woods boo whooing around if they open, they are on a track I most the time dont leash mine either and call them off the tree with just voice commands. It takes patience to make a good dog.
Being 79 yrs. old, I am thankful for every night that I can go to the woods with my hound. It's a shame that I didn't realize earlier in life to be more tkankful for the small things. Good hunting to you all !

Enjoy every night! I feel like we all would enjoy a dog like you described if we are honest with ourselves.
