Anyone find a way to stop a dog jumping at the tree ?

Any ideas ?

Ive read where folks carry a screw in eyelet and put it in the tree and attach a bungee to it and the dog and stand back and watch.

In wild Willy’s book he will tell you to have the dog leashed and to pull him up higher than he wants to go when jumping/ jacking the tree, a friend I hunt with has a dog that is very wild at the tree, I have tried this but honestly not consistent enough to know if it works, a wild treeing jumping dog to me is undesirable because at the few comp hunts Ive seen dogs like the one I’m describing do this it just causes problems all the dogs are on edge, seemingly to have a fight break out at any time, wild Willy also covers that topic and starts out the exercise by bringing your “clean treeing dog” into the tree so I say all that to say in my opinion a dog may could be broke from jumping but I think it’s a hard sell

If you can change this jumping treeing style, could you not teach or train a dog that trees 60 barks a minute to bark 100 or 120 a minute? Or one that trees 120 a minute to slow down to 60 a minute?

Can you teach one that stands on the tree every time to sit back 6 or 10 feet every time and just tree like that all the time?

good luck with that

treeing style is 99 percent genetic, it would be easier and quicker to get another dog and start over.
