Pathfinder 2 or alpha 10
Please compare the two.
Not looking to cause a argument or beat a dead horse.
Just wanting to see what those with experience think.
I’ve had the alpha 100 and liked it and the original pathfinder and liked it but needed improvements.
I’ve been away for awhile but trying to decide what I would like if/when I buy a new one

There is Pros and Cons with each system I’d say. I would go with the Alpha 10 (which I will more than likely be investing in one soon). Like the Pathfinder you will be able to link it your smartphone. Spoke with a dealer about the 10 and you still have the compass view and correction functions on the handheld if something happens to your Smartphone while in the timber as with the DogTra you will not. Not many carry extra smartphones, tablets, smartwatches etc. So to me that is a big plus for the Alpha 10. I plan on leaving the Alpha 100 in my vehicle / side x side and keeping the 10 on my vest when I do decide to purchase one.

Does the Alpha 10 have maps?
Alpha 10
So, I am a Garmin guy through and through. I got a new 200i as soon as they came out and I was highly disappointed to say the least. At Autumn oaks i decided to try out an Alpha 10 since I was already using the maps on my phone. I LOVE IT! Range is incredible. It will pick dogs up at 2 miles plus and never drop them. I've had several instances over 3 miles even and that's with the original short antenna. In one cast in the hills i picked up my hunting buddy's dog 7.2 miles away. I was on top and so was he but just blew my mind! I sold my 200 and bought another 10 for backup. Also, the battery on the 10 is like 40+ hours so leaving it on, on accident isn't an issue. Highly Recommend!
The 10 does not have maps on it, that's all on your phone. But unlike the dogtra it still shows you status (dog treed) Distance, and direction. if your phone died youre not just up a creek.
