Kelly Bragg Blueticks

Darryl Holland here, Coonhound Bloodlines staff writer [Tree Dog for Christ]. I am wanting to do a special article on the Kelly Bragg Blueticks, and need to either talk to someone with information on Kelly and Lonn Bragg, or be directed maybe to articles that have been printed in the past, perhaps in one of the old "Blue Books." You might want to reach out to Guy Ormiston. Guy has a great depth of knowledge about the bluetick coon hounds of the era when Kelly Bragg was promoting his own hounds. I know very little about his dogs other than what I read about them in the coonhound magazines that I got from the late 70’s through the mid 90’s.

If I remember correctly his dogs were noted for being cold nosed track dogs that were solid tree dogs. My guess is he likely would not be happy with the direction that many have gone with today in breeding choices. There were a number of articles written over the years in such publications as Full Cry and the annual year books of BBCHA and BBOA.

If I’m not mistaken Calvin Gibson in West Virginia kept a lot of hounds off the old Bragg blood. You could possibly try contacting him.
